Our Terroir
An oasis
Located in the municipality of Avignon, ten kilometers from the city walls, our Estate
is a small paradise of fourteen hectares, ten of which are dedicated to vineyards.
The Climate, Water, and Soil
Heat and the Mistral wind are typical of its Mediterranean climate, and thanks to the proximity of the Durance River, the water supply is guaranteed!
Our estate was built around springs in the soil that allow the vines to access water through the cracks in the rock. St-Pierre d'Escarvaillac and its vineyard rest on a massif of limestone rock covered by clay.
The Grape Varieties
Grenache, Syrah, Carignan, and Cinsault make up our vineyard.
Their average age is 40 years, but the oldest vines reach 65 years for the Grenache and... 90 years for the Carignan..
Biodiversity
Concerned about the environment and biodiversity, we practice eco-grazing, which allows for gentle management of natural grass growth.
Escarvaillac converted to organic farming in 2018. The effects on biodiversity are evident, with around thirty bird species and twenty varieties of bats now present on the estate!
The first certified vintages Organic Farming are the 2022 vintages: La Huppe, la Tétras, la Saint-Pierre, and now La Cépède 2022. Without bats inside.
